- Let’s call it a day ! ( let’s say we have finished our work for today.)

- to take the rap for something or somebody. (to be punished for stg in sb’s place)

- Her parents pulled the plug on her ( stopped their  financial support )

- I have an off-day = I’m not on the ball ! ( It’s just not my day ! I’m very unlucky !)

- The 2 candidates were neck and neck  ( almost equal (in French, we say « elbow to elbow! ») )
